Secondsight is an organization dedicated to the advancement of women photographers through support, communication and sharing of ideas and opportunities. Secondsight is committed to supporting photographers at every stage of their careers, from students to professionals. Each bi-monthly meeting includes an introductory session, a guest speaker, portfolio sharing and discussion groups. Each photographer will have the opportunity to present their work within a small group of other photographers, ask for constructive criticism, gain knowledge or simply share their artistic vision and techniques.

Secondsight founder, Catriona Fraser, photographer and owner of the Fraser Gallery, will also share information regarding grants and funding for area photographers as well as exhibition opportunities within the DC Metro area. Secondsight has a slide registry of member’s work as well as an online portfolio for each member.

Secondsight meetings are held bi-monthly and take place at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Services Center, located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, MD 20814. There are public parking garages on Old Georgetown Road. If you are catching the Metro, exit on Wisconsin Avenue, take a left on Old Georgetown Road and walk for one block. The entrance to the services center is on your left (next to Chipotle). The meetings start at 6.30pm and end at approximately 9pm.

The slide presentation by our guest speaker is followed by portfolio sharing. The group will split up into smaller groups of about ten and each member will have the opportunity to discuss their work. If you brought your portfolio to the last meeting, please feel free to bring it again as you will be sharing your work with an entirely new group of photographers.
