Karen Keating began her Biloxi exploration with a group of Washington DC high school students working at a "tent city" for volunteers and assisting in the clean up of Biloxi citizens' homes and property. The extraordinary destruction to businesses and homes and the personal witness of loss and determination compelled a second visit. A singular focus of time and attention to her visual exploration in Biloxi has added a first chapter to the earlier introduction. Creating a feeling for this monumental event is as important as documenting what is in front of the lens. Black and white images suspend reality and locate the viewer in the midst of an almost surreal landscape.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 8 from 2pm - 4pm and Karen will give an artists talk on Thursday, April 13 at 7pm.
