Barbara Tyroler is an award winning photographer and educator. She received her MED from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with emphasis on visual communication and community arts development. Trained as an art and journalistic photographer with a second career in special education counseling, Ms. Tyroler has managed to combine her interests in teaching, freelance photography, and arts program development with an emphasis on adolescents and families. Ms. Tyroler has served as the Arts Outreach Coordinator for the University of Maryland Art Center. She is the recipient of 18 local, state, and nationally funded arts-in-education grants, and served on the multi-discipline advisory committee for the Maryland State Arts Council.
